Although we understand you’re excited to get inside a bridal boutique right away, we recommend that you establish your ceremony’s date, venue, and theme first. You’ll want to know the setting you plan to wear your gown in before you can start narrowing down your options.

10-12 Months Before “I Do!”

This may sound shocking, but you should start scheduling your bridal appointments about a year before your wedding date. Keep in mind, many boutiques book appointments a month in advance and finding the perfect gown requires patience. Once you do, you will still be looking at a several months-long wait to receive your dress after you order it. It’s never too late to start dress shopping!

About 2 Months Out

Finally, once your dress arrives, one last step remains: alterations! Alterations are the key to building the perfect aisle-ready look. This process involves 2-3 fitting appointments with a professional bridal seamstress, and takes about 6-8 weeks to complete. During this time, your seamstress will create your bust, hem, and any additional adjustments needed to ensure your gown fits flawlessly.
